Default Pics of quarter repair progress

I bought my car and looked like a little dent in the quarter but took off the filler which I might add was at least 2 inches thick and the bottom of the quarter and rocker were totally crushed. I decided to splice the pieces in, instead of replacing the whole quarter. But here is my progress. It's cleaned up a little bit but i'm about the weld in the rocker in the next few days then tackle the quarter. Maybe you guys can give me some opinions though. I sprayed the back of the rocker with weld thru primer and cold galvanizeing spray. but after I weld it i won't be able to get in the back of it good. how would I fix the back side of the weld so it won't rust thru the new paint and filler? Is there something that I can stick a wand in there and just spray away to coat everything?

Either way would still have to weld a splice in. Most are done at the roof line either have to take the roof off which is a new roof or just below it which is still anohter splice. So the way I see it i'm doing less work and ALOT less spot welds to cut out, just have to do that extra splice.

I don't remember about any access through the rocker from underneath, but your paint and body supplier should have a body cavity wax, applied from a can with an application wand that allows you to apply in places not very accesable.

Ok cool thats what i'm lookin for but another question if your familiar with welding. When you weld it's unavoidable to get corrosion into the weld. Now if you can't grind it down after welding and apply that body wax will it still come thru?

One of those things with being non accesible. Check with you supplier, they also have some undercoatings that are heavier bodied, but will build and allow to cover every thing if you are worried. As long as it is sealed from moisture, salt, should be alright.

the weld through primer, is a barrier against rust, thats why we use it, so it stop rust, no worries dude you will be just fine, you can also apply a etch prime ontop before you do a seam sealer and or bondo
may i suggest using evercoats new filler, which has kevlar in it, water proff, moisture proff, corrossion resistant, and stop the die back and all the other nasty stuff that comes from using the shitty duraglass
but hey just my advice

+1 for replacing the whole quarter. if you wanted mud all over your quarter why replace at all? looks like your doing well though. good luck

well if you want a panel straight you usually skim the whole panel anyways, or if you use poly primer your essentially mudding the whole panel so that don't bother me. If i replaced the whole quarter i'd still have to take off the roof and splice it so theres a roof replacement, or splice it lower and there is still a splice. So doing it my way I have an extra 12 inches of splice and about 50 less spot welds to cut. So weigh your options.

well have to know how to weld not to get warping too bad, but thats what filler is for, no matter how good your panel is your almost gonna have filler on it. I'll be just fine don't you guys worry about me. I'll post pics when I can get over my shoulder surgery and get some work done, but I guarantee it will be straigter than most people can get it by replacing a full quarter.

Heck If I'm not mistaken cars come from the factory with a little filler here and there because of inevitable imperfections.

Good luck on your project.
