Default CETA done.. 8 out of 10 *update*

*UPDATE on post 15*

So i did the CETA mod, went with gloss black and clear coat, I used duplicolor automotive paints. It's got pretty good gloss to it after clear finished drying. The only problem I came across was when peeling back the tape, the edges came out a little rough in some spots.. I used a razor too to get cut through that thin paint layer. So i'll have to go back and touch up with black and silver to make it a nice even line. So thats why It's an 8 out of 10.

Im assuming wetsanding and buffing would really make it smooth and bring out the shine.. but how's this work on plastic/duplicolor paint.

looks good. for the paint that made its way under the tape, the best advice i could give is to put down the razor, and go grab some goof off. thats what i used, a bit of that stuff on a cotton ball or cotton swab for tight spaces, and you'll get the paint right off. it works wonders. you can also try some rubbing alcohol. but i wouldnt try a razor.

i used the same paint/clear when i did mine as well, and i love the way itcame out. i actually chose not to sand/buff because i liked it exactly the way it was, and it still looks perfect to this day. if you do choose to wetsand/buff, it will give it an even smother/glossier look

ahh okay thanks, I think i'll try the rubbing alcohol first since I have it, and then move on to goof off if it doesn't work. As far as the razor, i only used that before i peeled any tape, to cut a line in the thin paint layer i new had formed over the tape/plastic divider to try and prevent any peeling

go look at any before/afters of a car that has done it. it looks sooooo much better than stock, and looks good on pretty much every color, though im not a huge fan of black cars doing anything back there

as i mainly did it for the looks, it's called "ceta" because of the "collectors edition trans am" and im sure thats why others do it

Short for "Collectors Edition Trans Am". They were the first cars to do this, and came from GM. They are yellow cars with black bumper panels. It's just easier to call it ceta mod. Lol.

If you have some paint that you want to remove (like under the tape) then grab a Q-tip and dip it in some paint prep cleaner (safest) or paint thinner and rub it to take off the top layer. Then rinse off.

Well i have an update, i ended up painting in the groove now because i could'nt get the line clean enough. The 2nd time i ran a razor blade underneath the tape edge to avoid the tape pulling up paint like it did the first time

As far as the time it took, i had all winter break and really took a lazy time haha, Plus taping it off twice and redoing some paint. So i spent about 3 weeks being lazy.. but everything i did could have been done in 2 days (since i took the bumper off)

Also did the corners black with Duplicolor Lens black
(cell phone pics)

I'm not sure how it compares to VHT as i've never used it, But it seems to work pretty well, it looks a little bit brown when you take a bright light/flashlight to it but that is becuase of the red underneath im assuming.. If you blacked out a clear lens, im sure it would look 100%
