I can paint a hole car with house of kolor candy for about 400$ including Gallon ckear, 2k primer, 2k sealer and the candy how many of you have actually Painted a car? I have a feeling someone told you it is hard to do. so your believing them. I put about 3000$ into my shop rent elec. gas, and supplies a month using all dupont or ppgs stuff. and bring in about 20k a month. So you tell me If i have anything left for my self lol

Well you my friend are the exception to the rule. I have my own shop and it's just me, no employees. Sounds like you have a good hook up on paint and clear, but are all these just scuff and shoot jobs, what about sand paper, tape, primer, masking paper and plastic, scuff pads, razor blades, etc... If you do 17 cars a month spend 3000 on bills and clear 20k a month your a millionaire, and that I DONT BELIEVE AT ALL!

Yet another good post.

I would say an average cost of materials these days for a full complete is between $1500-$3500. Depending on brand, color, quantity, etc.

Even the cheap stuff isnt cheap anymore.

x2, There is no way you are painting 17 completes a month by yourself. Thats 1.7 cars a day.

That's actually about 1 car every two days. Unless you go by a 10 day in a month type of calendar.

Had a local crack head paint my truck. He said he has a connection with metalic paint. He told me to front him 20 bucks. So I did. I went to work and he called me 2 hrs later and said he was done I went on my lunch break and It look like ****. My 8 yr old brother could have done better. He ended going another route. More like 10 bottles of spray can. He used 9 for the truck and 1 for him. And bought a little rock with the change hell it was worth the laught. Never saw him again

On my Malibu, it's been wrecked in the front and the body shop "which was professional" did a horrible paint job. The hood and bumper match, but the driver side fender is a little off. You can only tell when the car is in the sun, but it still pisses me off.
