I used the duplicolor wheel enamel on my winter wheels. They have only been on with the paint since about November but so far they are holding up great. I sanded them, then one can of self etching primer, then about 2 1/2 cans of paint. I run it through the car wash and drive every day in the snow/salt. Not the best pic but they turned out a lot better than expected.

if your just wanting to paint to make them look decent then just use autobody paint and clearcoat. however the problem with is that there is no autobody paint/clearcoat that is immune to rockchips. so with in time your wheels will look as if they have a bad case of acne. i would honestly recommending powercoating. most good looking wheels that are painted are powdercoaded which keeps them nearly damage free. just my opinion.

you people who say "take it to a shop" for every little thing are so freaking annoying. go take your comments to a shop.
to actually answer the question,
i used duplicolor engine enamel w/ceramic. holds up to heat and grease quite well. if you go black, use a black primer. make sure you prep it really well, but i'm sure you already know that.

if i had known that you are planning on powder coating them later on then i would have said just use duplicolor. if you want it to last then you would want to use ppg or dupont. didn't meen to leave a comment that makes me sound like an a**.

I wanted to paint my wheels too raptor, but everyone says just powder coat them. Meh, the only concern I have is what type of preparation needs to take place, for instance if the wheels are Chrome or polished, or painted already. Do we just sand it down? I heard sand blasting wheels makes them weaker, that sounds ridiculous...I would go with Dupli color

I did the samething with my stock wheels and it held up real well. Like mentioned just prep the surface good.

something different!!! i heard bad stuff about duplicolor wheel paint, check out in a rattle can: Epoxy paint for Appliances, comes in black and white at home depot, works awesome, used it and loved it, nice gloss, heat resistance, scratch resistance...
