You wont get it off without cracking it unfortunately . Its held on by a **** ton
of glue and its very strong . Only way to remove panel is to rip it apart , remove
old glue , weld in new T-bar , re apply new glue , set new sail panel skin . sucks
but no way around it

im not intrested in doing t-tops. i had them on my last ws6 and didnt care much for them. i never took them off. if nothing else ill paint the top black so the sunroof isnt as visable. i plan on painting the new top black anyway.

on a hard top both pillars run all the way back so it wouldn't need the center section

^^^^Actually it does.... the side pillars you reference are only spot welded in place and add mostly nothing to structural strength.

Regardless they add almost no strength to the car. The cars were designed as t-tops.

The hardtop and t-top are nearly the same structurally.

Not if they reinforced the roof when they put the sunroof in.

Frankly for all the pain and cost of fixing this.... I would just paint the roof black and call it a day.

from what i read you still cant purchase a targa top. all i keep reading is "we'll keep u posted". id reall just rather have a harp top. not much fabbing going on. welding the t-bar back in place and applying the new top, then headliner. i found a guy who can do it, ill post pics when its done.
