P.I.P. Paint In Place! I got a feeling it'll turn out like the little plastic triangles by the windows...sometimes they break, sometimes they come off nicely...and I'd HATE to break that piece.

i think the glue is just a sealer... pull the screws and use a plastic putty knife to remove it...

Just pull it up slowly, it should come off no problem. I pulled mine and put it back on with the same adhesive.

I use 80lb fishing line when I remove badges and emblems, that might work a little better.

use some piano wire (wont break) as it is made out of metal. just wear gloves or it will rip you hands apart!

Grab some 80lb "spider wire" fishing line as its not metal or thick like original fishing line and tie each end to something comfortable for handles and pull... will be easier when its hot outside and the surface is hot to the touch

Dude, we've pulled tons of these for the Targa creation. Just pull out all the screws and grab a corner and pull up slowly. You wont hurt anything. It's just a double sided tape that holds it down on there.

If you use the fishing/piano line, you'll cut the tape and it wont stick anymore. After you pull the piece up, you'll see that the tape will still be sticky, just make sure you remember what side is the front and then re-stick it with the holes lined up. SUPER EASY. I learned at the junk yard then on our cars.

Just take your time bro.

Learn something new everyday. I wonder how it would look if I painted the bar red since my car is red. Think it would look like crap? Or should I just paint it black again?

I'vr done this 3 times now on 3rd gens and I sure its no different on a 4th. its just 2 sided adhesive of some sort which if you pull it enough it will come apart. I pulled mine on my 85 to clean it up and ended up using tremclad rattle can high temp paint as I didnt want a gloss look at all. Make sure you use a Hi temp paint as its gonna see some hot days LOL. I used a crap load of RTV as well when I put it back on to make sure it would never leak again and it never did. When I parted out my 85 someone wanted the bar and when I took it out. WOOO It was on there after I was done. I got some pics ill post here
