Default Help w/ striping paint all the way to the metal (pic of bad paint).

The hood on my DD Saturn looks like crap. Wanna remove the paint down to the metal, prep it, than just black primer the hood.
What are my options on removing the paint? Thanks.

I would pull that hood off and use air craft stripper. Your probably still gonna have to sand in some spots, but it will definitely speed up the process for you and its actually less messy than trying to DA all that crap off.

IIRC primer absorbs water and causes rust from under if not sealed, BUT i could be wrong.

primer is porous, you definetly dont want ot leave it in primer, otherwise it will rust.

Like mentioned above, aircraft stripper will pretty much take paint off any metal. I've used in the past on steel and aluminum wheels. Make sure you don't get it on anything plastic - it will literally melt it.

I thought about that, but it'll be too new compared to the rest of the car.

Hi,
good media blasting followed by a good cleaning/primer and paint. Option #2
aircraft stripper/sanding/cleaning/primer and paint. The second saves money but requires alot of effort on your part. Just weigh the total cost both ways..good luck and have a blessed week........jim

Aircraft stripper. About 20 bucks at AutoZone for a big can. Just don't get the **** in your eyes or even on your skin, it burns like ****.

I've used it to strip paint as well as the clearcoat off the wifes WS6 wheels. Works awesome.
