painting engine block?
So how do you guys usually go about this? I have a bare block that will be going over to the machine shop for assembly, do i paint pre or post assembly? I figured post since it would get all scratched and chipped up while there. Especially if they need to machine it a little extra.

Hi,
we paint everything prior to final assembly. However you can paint prior to install. Use a quality paint/primer for higher temps. Proper cleaning and prep work a must for quality job. Tape everything with frog tape to prevent bleeding on adjacent areas...good luck and have a blessed week.......jim

Prior to full assembly. Basically just had the heads on, no accessories, intake... Think it came out ok. Used a lot of degreaser, just sprayed on duplicolor engine enamel. After a couple years it is still holding up good. Exhaust ports were still masked off in this picture. Best way I found to mask areas is to mask the area, plus additional, place the gasket in place, then trim around the gasket with a utility knife.
