1.sand off casting..120grit then 320, 600 and 1000 smooth as can be.
2.clean (alcohol/pad) 2 light coats duplicolor adheisive promoter, 10-15 apart
3.2-3 coats duplicolor sandable-(optional) primer. My intake was so smooth I didn't have to sand it.
4.I did 2 light color coats, 1 medium, followed by medium heavy, heavy. Use your judgement when the color you want is acheived.
5. I ended up with about 6 or 7 coats of duplicolor clear coat to really give it a powder coated look and it turned out awesome.
Also taped off my slp logo and did the same...Black metal metalic

I know I am a couple months late but I am going to paint mines red using Aervoe engine enamel. About how many rattle cans to cover the whole intake? I am going with the ford red color (it was the only red they had), my block will be matte black with the gloss red intake. Should I use a clear on the red intake, if so just regular duplicolor clear? I was going with the Aervoe because I had heard really good things about theyre product. I wonder if using non heat resistant paint would crack later in case I wanted to go with a brighter red, anyways I will post pics when its done. Thanks guys, great thread!
