Heading to the paint shop, what can I expect?
Taking the car to the paint shop. It had several flaws when I bought it and I'm adding a used Raptor hood. My car is NBM. Below is a list of what I'd like them to do.
- Repair underside of front bumper. Previous owners drove the nose into the ground on numerous occasions taking it down to yellow urethane.
- Repair scratches/light scrapes at rear of door edge.
- Replace/repaint sail panel due to bubbling. I have the part if they will use it so no cost there.
- Repair 3 small chips on passenger quarter.
- Repair peeling clear coat in two places on passenger quarter.
- Repair 6 deep scratches under rear spoiler.
- Straighten and repair fender tabs as both are bent.
- Fit, prep and paint Raptor hood. The hood is used and is top coated white.
Only the hood and the fender tabs should require any significant body work. Everything else is just sand down and paint. What do you think I'm looking at time and cost wise? I know it will depend on the location and the shop's schedule, but I'm just looking for an idea of hours and cost.

all depends on shop, i know in MD the avg body and paint labor is $42/hour....and you gotta remember they are not just sanding a painting, they will be taking parts off as to not leave any tape lines, meaning theyll be taking taillights out and dropping bumper if theyre painting quarters, dropping front bumper and taking headlight out if doing fender, etc....then depending on when the marks are if its close to another panel they will have to detrim and blend the color into the adjacent panel...it can add up pretrty quick...
