I wonder what the clear would do inside the engine bay after the wire mod...on the panels that were never cleared from the factory?

It would make it look splotchy, or more matte than they are right now.

I'm thinking about hitting up Home Depot and/or Lowes tonight to make some matte ghost-stripes on the Raptor hood. Hope they have it. If not, I may make some black stripes.

As far as getting a clean line for the stripes, I've read that the trick is to spray a coat, wait a few seconds, spray another coat, etc. Do 3-5 wet coats, and when done with the last coat, carefully (slowly) pull the tape off while it is still wet. This prevents it from sticking to the tape and pulling away from the paint.

Lol I never thought about using this stuff on a car.. I race nitro trucks, cars, buggies and we've been plastidippin stuff like servos and all electric stuff.. Back then it only came in blue and you had to mix it yourself and DIP whatever you were coating in it.. Hence the plasti-dip name. I'm gonna have to pick me up some.

They still make the tubs you can dip in, but they also offer spray cans now.

I remember plastic dipping my HPI Savage to take it mudding right after rain

Oops just looked at the thread title.. Maybe it's not the same stuff. Back in the day(10 years ago) the stuff I used was called plasti-dip.

to be honest it came out like crap, I got home and got eager to just start spraying so I went at it without any practice at all on anything else. I could have gotten it really smooth and even but you can see everywhere I started and stopped spraying and got lazy. but oh well! it looks better than silver how it was.

Def better than silver.. I saw where some dude painted his whole g35.. it didn't look bad. He prepped his and it looked like a real flat black paint job.

So im going to pick up a can and see what i can do with it.. If and when i do. Ill post pics.
