Default painting a fast intake...

Got a brand new fast 92. Want to paint it black with red lettering. Would I be able to powdercoat it or should I paint it?a little worried about trying to use a $5 can of spray paint on an almost $1000 intake.

When I painted mine I used PPG adhesion promoter and SEMS plastic paint. I then used a paint pen to do the letters. Make sure you clean it really good first. The plastic can suck in oil and other contaminants.

i painted mine with rustoleum plastic paint "textured" black. only had the idea because i had to paint some post coverings for a house with it, and it stuck well to pvc. so far its holding up great! and it looks just like a stock ls1 intake!

ill try and keep you posted on how it holds up!

also i scuffed it, and hit it with paint thinner (all i had) dried good, then hit it with the whole can (6-7 light coats)

Same powder that we use on metal actually, just different method of application since there's no electrostatic assitance.

Can you powder coat to a specific paint code?

if u go the paint route i def wouldnt over look the prep that will make all the difference. i would use a good adhesion promotor and epoxy sealer then color. thats an expensive intake to take shortcuts.

Not sure what you decided, but I did mine just how you wanted. Black/red... I used spray paint for plastic from autozone. Turned out great. 2 coats adhesion promoter, 4 coats black, 3 coats clear, and a red paint pen.
