I just did this the other day. No pics, but it worked great. That alignment problem bugged the crap out of me.

Thanks OP!

Wouldn't adding a little heat to both sides help avoid breaking the tab off? Just a thought feel free to kick me down for that haha

I did mine when I had it up on ramps for the oil change last weekend, got the driverside pretty good, but the passenger side had been folded clear back and caused it to break the the lower fender, I straightened it but it doesn't matter since it's broke off clean.

I have seen them so damaged that the fender mounting tab is broken off and folded under the metal mounting flange! I'll remove the fender and use Plastic Welder epoxy(best epoxy I have ever used!). if the mounting tab is bent I use a heat gun and form the tab back into shape. I do my own work on all 5 of my f-body's(yes 5). the only time my car is on a lift is at inspection time and I have to tell the mechanic where to jack, some don't take it very well!

Bringing her up from the dead fellas.

This is a good question- can someone elaborate? I really don't want my tabs to be broken either.

as long as you disconnect the fender from the tab there is no risk of breaking the tab.

I will try- the tabs are bent to **** almost touching the floor boards. To my surprise, they aren't cracked from the looks of it?

This isn't an issue on LT1 cars at all, due to the jack point mounts on them. I've fixed several on my buddy's 98-02 cars that have had this issue and, for whatever reason, GM didn't put them on the 98-02 cars. LS1 guys may want to look into a set on these from a junkyard to prevent this issue from happening again after you fix it. (2 bolts)

Here's some on ebay

I had to fix this issue on my old 1999 Z28. Every time I took it to the shop, I put florecent masking tape all over that part you aren't supposed to jack, along with a big arrow pointing down and a huge NO in masking tape right above it.

Definitely a problem on lt1s... Mine were so terrible on my car, one side is so mangled I'm pretty sure I'll have to weld on a new mounting point for the fender... Buddy with a 97 TA has same prob... All depends on how stupid previous owners of said car were...
Every book that comes with a lift that I've read specifically shows to put the lift pucks under the subframe (right where the front and back of SFCs connect) for 93-02 fbodys. I would never trust that shitty plastic thing to jack my car up on, not to mention I'm pretty certain it even says right next to or on the plastic block to NOT jack in that spot. I'm guessing they removed them simply because they were pointless..

Here's some on ebay

Someone that has these jacking pads correct me if I am wrong: I heard that they are pretty useless and would crack as soon as you jack the car up? True, or BS?

My thoughts as well- the spot you are referring to for proper jacking is the 'frame rail' that behind the front wheel, that goes to the floor boards right?

Exactly, the frame rail was the term I was looking for...
