Default Ground effect REMOVAL 4th gen Camaro...?

I'm in the market for a 98-02 Z28 or SS Camaro...

I found one that's clean, no winters, 90k miles, 6spd and white. My only complaint is that it has cloth interior, but I can deal. The price is right.

It has factory installed ground effects... which, I personally, hate. Anyone have experience with these? Like can I remove them easily and have no issues...? Not sure how they're mounted and everything...

ANY info would be great! Thanks ahead of time!

Ya I CAN'T stand those ground effects but to each their own in this site but I heard if you take them off there will be holes or something underneath it was hooked up from so really don't know what route you should take.

Do you love the car enough to do a partial re paint? I would probably keep looking. The car you want is still out there.

The RS kit is mounted on metal brackets which are riveted to the body. You WILL need to drill out the rivets in order to remove the brackets. As for the spoiler pieces on the quarter panels they are being held by 3 bolts and double sided tape.

I removed the RS kit off my camaro 2 days after I brought it home.

the after math

It cost me $1,600 to patch/re-paint the quarter/rocker panels.

I have yet to patch the holes on both the front and rear bumper.

they're aren't that noticeable compared to the other panels.

Main reason I decided to purchase my 01 Z28 even though I hated the kit was because it was a 1 owner(older gentleman) bone stock unmolested Camaro which the original owner only drove approx 6k miles a year and always kept it garaged. Only had 62k miles which was pretty low mileage compared to the other F-bodies I was looking at to buy.

Same thing with me, I chose my car bone stock to the core cause the previous and only owner was a 70 year old man lol, bought the car w/ 70k in it.

That's the ONLY thing that bugs me, I have everything I wanted in the car EXCEPT for a M6, that's what I originally wanted but they were all extremely low miles and over ten thousand dollars more or beat to ****, wasn't worth it but really wish I had a M6

my 99 Z28 had the kit on it and I removed it and I had regret doing it afterwards...

I plugged up the ones from the spoiler but the paint was not that good around where it was..

you can see (kinda) a few holes in front of the rear wheel

I took the RS kit off my z28, but not the spoiler. The Downfall there is holes in the front and rear bumpers. Easy fix: Touch up paint for that color and year and u can paint them with a small pointed paint brush and paint the side of the holes. Practically unoticeable. Bad part is, the rocker panels on the sides are noticeable, very easy fix if taken to a body shop. you spend around $1,500 and have brand new rocker panels. Looks like it never even happened. Im a very picky person and I personally hated the ground affects but im very happy with the way it looks w/o the kit. BUT....if you have the money, keep looking you will find a VERY NICE SS or z28 that is better/less miles. Ive seen so many out there! craigslist...Ebay...great spots to look!
