Default wet sanding...is it special sandpaper you have to buy??

I wanna wet sand my rear center piece inbetween the brake lights.

I was gonna do 600, 1000, 2000.

What brand?

How much do I need to buy of each grit?

Also....what polish is easiest to use for the final polish after the 2000 grit?

Thanks.

Usually it says wet or dry sandpaper, which is every brand i've come across.

Cool...forgot to ask, is the wet type available at Home Depot/Lowes...or is it at auto parts stores only?

Yes they carry the wet/dry sandpaper.

At the parts store they sell an assorted package with has various course of paper, basically the grits you should use in order for color sanding or polishing.

I've read that the polish you will use is dependent on if you use laquer or enamel paint. If your talking about polishing right after the paint dries not 30 days later.

If you are going to be doing the center filler piece, then I would start with 1000 grit, then move to 1500. If you want it any smoother than that, go to 2000 grit, then use some plastic polish preferrably with a buffer if you don't want to spend hours doing it by hand. I like the meguiars plastx polish stuff.

1000,1500,2000. Soak the paper in water. Keep adding water with a spray bottle as you work. I found that some soap in the water helps to keep things lubed up.

I went from this:
