Wow, some hellah insurance you have there. I've had geico and USAA and never had them replace anything aftermarket. One time geico even charged me more than the deductable because wheel hub bearings got screwed up and they said its a normal wear and tear part so i had to pay half for a new one.

You don't have to let the insurance company total it if you don't want to. You can have them pay the max amount they will pay before totalling, and fix it yourself. You can also get an independent shop to fix it a little cheaper if they are slow that week.

usaa has always replaced my aftermarket stuff, some lady(she had usaa also) hit my truck and messed up 2 of my aftermarket rims and they gave me 1400 just for the two messed up rims. and when the truck was broken into they replaced all my stereo stuff with the same jl audio speakers and amps and the eclipse dvd/nav unit that i got. they also gave me money for the 2 ipod touches that where stolen in the car. so it all depends on the company that you are with

I laughed really hard on this cause it's so true. My old Camaro V6 got t-boned, side swiped numerous of times, bricked, you name it, it has seen the body shop at least 10 times, might be the V6 curse lol.

Should put another SS hood on it. As far as insurence is concerned SS's are Z28s. So if they really wouldnt know the difference. However your probably better off eating the cost or doing it yourself. Looks like a total.

the fenders weren't damaged from the accident. The peeled paint on them was from me and my uncle putting the hood on lol. It was all ready painted white when I bought it. But I've got a question. If say they total the car, but I buy it back and they never come and get it and never pay for any repairs and I just have it fixed. Will I have a salvaged title or will it just be on record that it was in a accident?

Most likely a salvaged title, but if you never tell the insurance and fix it yourself or out of pocket then you will be fine.

Its all about the shop you take it to some will fudge the work order and get u the parts u want. But.... its hard to find those shops. Try a custom or performance shop with a body dept. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

If I knew the guy who did that and then ran off from the scene I might coincidentally know a guy who had his house burn down in the future.

Yep I'm getting a 3200 dollar check. 526 for a SS hood, 225 for a set of headlights, 129 for a billet grille, Im not sure about the bumper, headlight bracket, and the impact thing behind the bumper but I wouldn't think over 500 for those. Thats less than 1500 in parts. So that leaves 1700 for labor.
