I agree the earlier shakers had a more similar shape to the 4th gen body, but I thought the later shakers just looked better. There is more of a finished product on this thread. I might make it functional down the road, but I don't really see it offering much improvement over my current modified stock intake so I'm in no hurry. Furious 1, thanks for the 'shops. I'm really diggin that second one. Might go with that second one as I still haven't had a new vinyl made for the hood bird. With the black sail panel I would only have to stripe the rear wing too. I'm swamped with other projects so the car is "finished" for the time being. In a few months I'll get back at it.
I see the problem everyone is having with it. I have a Carbon Fiber shaker like yours waiting to go on, and for some reason mine has a lip that drops it down some, yours looks flush with the hood
I used the Holden full LS cover (I think it was called the beetle style cause it looked like a bug), I just attached the shaker to it. You want the shaker to stay on the motor when you pop the hood.
^^^ YES exactly what it should look like!
The OP actually did too good of a job getting it to fit so tight it looks like a stick on scoop that does not resemble a shaker at all.
If you want to attach it to the hood the early 77 shakers were significantly shorter than the later ones. You can usually find them on eBay pretty easily cause most people want the taller version.

It looks good but like a few others said, set it down a bit so it doesnt look like it was just glued to the bottom of the hood. The 2nd gen scoops did not sit up that high.
