Default COMPLETE HARD TOP roof replacements, who is interested?

Ok, we have about 50 t-top sail panel replacements under our belt. We had maybe five with issues. Those five scared the others into thinking there might be issues with theirs but there weren't.

I just inspected stock myself, looks fantastic. I had McNord inspect it (obviously knows his way around fiberglass pieces) and says it was better than most hoods from good companies. A little glaze here and there for pin holes, some block sanding at most, etc... They really do look good in person (and the Carbon Fiber ones are just KILLER!).

Some people thought they were short on a side here and there. They are not. We measured, they are EXACTLY the same as the NIB OEM we used. People were just installing starting on one side to the other and you'll short yourself that way (like the CME Valances) you HAVE to start with it centered.

That all being said, I'm confident now in making FULL HARD TOP REPLACEMENTS (identical to factory) IF THERE IS ENOUGH INTEREST.

They are obviously bigger than t-top ones so will cost a little more but I think we're looking at $150 more TOTAL IN PRICE COSTING MORE AND SHIPPING COSTING MORE.

Who would be ready to pay? We'd do a pre-order (lower price) just like the t-top sail panels, so take this price...

http://6litereaterdesigns.com/store/...roducts_id=241

and tell me if you'd be READY TO PAY.

NOTE: It might actually be less than the additional $150, definitely NOT more than $150 additional...

Hey 6L, I was wondering if you have any B stock of the sail roof panel. Something cracked, or blemished, but still fit properly. I have a project I want to try out and though $455 is not a bad price for the piece, it's more than I would want to spend or R&Ding a one off.

I don't care if it's broke in half, lol, I'll get my body guy to take care of that, I just need something that will not be cost prohibitive and if I screw up, I'm not out an arm and a leg.

Thanks man!

Ah this is tough! I work for GM and have been trying to pull the trigger on a new roof for my car. That looks like a pretty good price to me.

How much would a full carbon fiber hardtop be? Honestly i probably wouldn't be able to swing the cash right now for one because i'm in the process of painting my hood, bumpers and engine bay but i definatley want to replace the roof in the future. Mine has a big V shape in the middle of the roof where the glue is bubbling. I looked at doing your targa top plus the sail panel since gm doesn't make any of these anymore but the full hardtop would be much better IMO. I hope you guys get some made in the near future i know there's a lot less hardtop cars then ttops, haha

Would the carbon be made in a fashion to also save weight? Not some 1 layer of carbon to look like carbon.....but all carbon.

^^Nope. It is all CF (just like a gelcoat bottom) but it is thick so weight is basically the same...

Yes and more often then not the windshield breaks. 2 body shops have told me the same thing.

ABSOLUTELY NOT...

Sorry but those shops are idiots...

I've taken about 15 hard tops off (to do t-top conversions). You don't even need to pull the windshield weatherstripping let alone the windshield, that's just ridiculous...

Just repeating what I was told. My dealer is connected to a body shop and they actually just did a roof on a DTS and the windshield cracked. The tech who I was talking with about it(before it came up in this thread) has been doing body work for 25+ years and said that more often then not they crack. I'm sure it's different from car to car though.
