A fine grit sand paper will smooth it out just fine; you don't really need to prime spots that dont have body work on them so I'm not going to waste time/material doing it. Also I'm staying away from the engine bay aside from a good cleaning and to be honest, I really wanted to keep it red from the start

Just throwing this out there...have you considered flat/matte/satin red?

It's not for everyone, but I personally really like it.

That's actually really cool looking. I might consider that. Only thing is i won't know how good or bad it looks til paint is on it then I can get a flatening agent in the clear if I like it.

Thanks for that picture I might go with that

I've seen probably 2 or 3 cars painted this color in person, it looks really good IMO.

Well its been awhile since I've posted but I have been really busy between work and school but today I got a solid 6 hours worth of work in today so heres a little update!

Sanded down the hood, did some bodywork over a little spiderwebbing and primed:

Both fenders primed and sanded along with the SS Spoiler:

Started working on my shaved berger:

Bodywork done on HUGE dent on the rocker:

Bumper removed and sanded: (spider webbing)

On top of that I installed an upper ball joint and tie rod end because they both **** the bed. On top of that I sanded down a little of my door jams, probably going to repaint them all minus the engine bay.

All's that left is to do a little more priming, give the car a bath, mask it and it will be ready for paint. Still going with Victory Red and am really anticipating how it will come out. I get out of school on Friday too so I will be spending probably everyday at the shop until its all finished

Thanks

Did you use a mold release agent cleaner before you sprayed the fenders/bumpers?

WOW!!! In truth, I'm jealous of you, dude! How I wish that I had a Camaro that I could take apart and re-paint! Everyone's idea of an ideal experience differs, but I would love the opportunity to do what you're doing. Keep up the excellent job and enjoy what I think is a great project!

I used a degreasing solvent, not sure what the specifics behind it are

Yes thank you! It deffinitely is something that more people should really go through because its one of the best ways to really appreciate the fine details of your car.

Oh yes I will be using a flex additive, its crazy how much flex the bumper has, it just feels so flimsy but thanks for lookin out

Well here are a few updates along with a walkaround of the car;

Shaved berger panel completed and primed:

New bumper cover was test fitted:

Rocker panel primed:

Door trim and mirrors removed:

Lots of junk in my trunk

Walkaround of the car:

Dirty engine bay :/

That's it for now, might take a trip to the shop on Saturday but I'll have to wait and see.

Oh and my right side exhaust tip was removed for the time being because it was loose but they are dual tips. Just figured I'd point it out in case anyone was confused...

Can't wait to see more. I painted for the first time, a door, a few months ago. What a rush to see the fruits of my labor!
