Question Cost to repaint

What would you all say the cost should be around to reprint my trans am? Stock 2000 black trans am ws6. No major body work, just a couple small dings. Just some rough ideas. Thanks!

not sure, but mine is currently in the shop being completely repainted, door jambs, everything, and I'm paying 2K, of course, I've known the guy for a long time, so that may make a difference too. I had one ding on the rear passenger side qp that is being fixed also, he welded up the ground holes and the holes where I did the wire mod also, and is going to paint the engine bay. Just get some estimates, and be sure to use a reputable shop, and remember ya get what ya pay for.

I just got my car painted about 4 months ago I went with a 3 stage. My body guy normaly charges between $5500 and $6000 if you just drop the car off to him and he tears it all apart. I paid just for materials which was around $2500 but he gave me a smoking deal since I helped him with other projects.

$2500 and up depending on the shape of the car and how far you want to go in taking the car apart and how slick you want it to be. If you are wanting it to be slick as glass you will probably be seeing 5k plus bids.

if its cheaper than 4000 dont let them do it unless you know them or your helping them. there is a lot of ways people dont prep right and to repaint a car right it is a lot of work and takes a lot of patience

If the car isn't a DD, prep it yourself.

my dad is a professional painter and the minimum he charges to paint an entire car is 3k, he's done a few jobs that have been up there in the 6-9k, all the way up to 20k but that one was a show car.

I would say 4 to 5000 to get it done right. I would also want to look at other paint work done by same shop or person.

I'm paying 4500 right now. That's a family hookup after all the body work for this old beaten up car. LoL

depends how good of a job you want. But in all seriousness expect to pay a couple grand or more for a good job.

^^ This. It takes a lot of time and knowledge to do it right. Most people have no idea of how much work there is. To do it right takes more than just a red scotch brite pad and some paint.

My $4500 is with hail damage repair... That is with $250 taken out ahead of time for deductible. Just FYI!
