Default Help! paint being washed away :(

Hi everyone, I have a 2002 Camaro Z28 and I was spraying it with the water hose today (it got carpet bombed by seagulls ) and all of a sudden big pieces of paint got chipped off and washed away... Is this common for these cars? I'm the second owner and the original owner said that the car has the original paint. I appreciate any and all help. Thank you.

sounds like maybe the car or panel has been painted before,
and someones prep, or painting skills suck, thus your paint
chipping off....ive never heard of anyone having this problem
with oem paintjobs, older gm cars had this problem, but not the
newer cars like yours.

Thanks, yea I was kind of thinking it may have been repainted somewhere maybe maaco or something? How much would a decent paint job run me for my car?

My car has oem paint but a chunk of paint came off its hood at a car wash. You're not alone.

@Sparky, I thought I was alone on this one, at least I'm not the only one experiencing this...

My fix is to replace the hood with an aftermarket (which I was planning on doing anyway, along with a few other parts) and getting a repaint done.

What I think caused mine was a rock chip that allowed the sprayer to shoot water under the paint and lift it off. It started right at a chip.
