Default Can I adjust this w/o a headache?

I bought the car like this. I am not sure if it is an a/m or oe bumper cover or the p/o did a por job of adjusting it. Sure hope it's not the 1/4.

that looks like a very bad repair to me. looks like there is paint on the taillight where they did a bad taping job and the bumper cover is lining up everywhere else except that spot

I was thinking of removing the tail light and trying to do some surgery behind it.

Maybe gentliy warm it with a heat gun then push it back it place and hold it in place temporarily with some duct tape.

This should be easy to do and you should see a lot. Just remove the thumb screws behind the hatch carpet and it comes right out. Just be sure to get the single one all the way to the far left.

It's pretty stiff & feels like something is behind it.

nothing looks out of place like a poor bumper or anything. there is a 10mm nut right on the inside of there and there is a stud on the bumper. loosen that nut up, push it in and tighten the nut again. if that doesnt work you need to be a little more creative. Also, dont bother heating it up, its not going to help you on these cars.

It turned out the bolts were in & I couldn't adjust it one bit. I can't understand how an aftermarket company can put out such a pos, or how a body shop or end user (except my idiot p/o) would accept it. I hope the company that knocked off this cover is out of business.

There's got to be something else going on. Have you had a body shop look at it? Something is not in the right place. The factory would have caught that.

Good idea, we took out the taillight and looked behind the bumper. Can't find anything it was up against. That piece is stiff as a rock.

It happens when the stud tears off the bumper. My old T/A bumper did that. The hole for the stud that holds for the bumper tight against the quarter tears and lets the stud slip past, so it doesn't close the gap like it should. I replaced mine because it had more issues than that.

My buddy that tried to fix it said both nuts were on. Also, if the stud broke off i should be able to push the bumper in where now it is like a rock. It must be up against something.
