I wouldn't use por-15 on anything, especially new metal. On my own car it was used and starting flaking off in sheets, and I have heard of numerous other instances of this happening, even when the metal is prepped to a tee. Don't know why there is so much hype about it. I would use something like a black epoxy primer.

I've been using POR 15 for years with great success. I used the gloss, brush on for my 9". It still looks brand new.

I realize the last post here on this was a few months ago....but might be helpful info to someone else searching.
I was going to put POR over clean metal and a friend stopped me and said he used it on a freshly sandblasted frame and it just flaked off....sounds crazy, but apparently it's just meant for rusty metal.

POR-15 worked perfect for me. Followed the entire process, clean, prep, and paint.
