Dang you’re right. They want $450 to ship w/out insurance. I wonder if they’re being drop shipped from China? I can drive to CA from TX for less than $450, I might would do that if they have them local.

There will always be the loud minority and the silent majority.

The loud minority are the few that received a good product in poor condition.
The silent majority are the many that received a good product in good condition.

The loud minority will scare anyone considering the product.
The silent majority will enjoy what they have received.

Magg performance provided me a good product in good condition. Excellent fitment and looks good. I could have done a better job installing but that’s on me, not the product.

I received the product within a month of purchase, it was shipped from Mexico. Box was thin but oversized; absolutely no damage from shipping. Would I order again from Magg? Yes. I messaged the owner after 2 weeks, late at night, inquiring when the product would be shipped. He got back to me the next morning with a satisfactory response.

Sometimes the mountain isn’t a mountain. It’s a small hill with a good view.

I bet the IROC and Magg are the same panel and both are drop shipped from Mexico. Magg looks like they add shipping into the cost of the part and it appears that IROC is “padding the freight” more than Magg. I work for a dealership and when we have to order parts we add at least 20% of what we paid for freight onto the customers bill so we can make profit off of the freight and the part.

Agreed, It’s likely the same manufacturer is producing for both companies. It’s incredibly common in the automotive world and nothing wrong with that.

“Thou shall not bear false witness” and that seems to happen when it comes to Magg and Iroc. People with no purchase experience speaking up, telling others to avoid said companies.

If u want the panel order it, there are plenty of ways to deal with a defective product. Including doing a charge back after the product was received. Thats what credit cards are for, they provide a means to dispute issues.

I’m still on the fence if I want to spend $2k’ish or just live with the bubbles.. I imagine it’d be at least $1600-1700 all in once painted and installed.

that I can understand. Also if the day comes to sell it the no bubble sail panel won’t provide added value. It’ll be a sunk cost unable to recoup.

Mine is a fairly low mile car (30k) that had a re-spray prior to me buying it and they painted the bubbling top the same color as the body instead of black. I’d like to have the top how it’s supposed to be, black and bubble free, but it cost a bit more than I was expecting it would to get there. It’d be my luck that the transmission or something would go out after dropping two grand on a small fiberglass panel. I saw that at the 6LE/Duraflex panel runs $506 plus $119 for shipping so that’s a little better. I imagine that there isn’t but one plant making these for everyone that sells them so I guess that’d be the cheapest option for a new one. The 6le one is available on a lot of sites like Carid.com and other non “enthusiasts” car sites. $506.60 + $119 S&H

Bro, that includes the body work and prep/primer. I'm just trying to get my money back. If you live in AZ, maybe you could pick it up cheaper than shipping it.

I was at a car show on Saturday. There were two Anniversary TA cars there. 99 and 02. The 99 did not have the bubbling issue, but the 02 did. It was weird. Both low mile and garage kept their entire life.

I never had any issues with duraflex. I put a sport hood from them on my 12 Ram and to this day its been excellent. Held up nicely. I wouldn't hesitate to give them a try.

Treburkulosis any car made after mid 98 should have the issue.

They say it has to sit out in the hot sun for a while and the bubbling will start.

His did not. He said he was lucky. His dads 02 anniversary had the issue. If he does very many car shows in Texas it wont be long.

Mine has yet to bubble and blister, it's an 02, driven around 1500 miles a year. However, if I leave it out in the hot sun, you can clearly see the "enhanced" orange peel effect develop on the sail panel. I'm sure if I left it out for days the the orange peel would bubble and the blisters would pop.

Probably so.

On a side note did GM ever warranty this or was this happening well after the warranty ran out.

GM did a TSB on it, and you could get it repaired, if you were under warranty, by the dealer. That opportunity expired a long time ago. It was still unknown by most original owners how wide spread the issue was, then to the cars had started changing hands, and warranties on the cars had reached their 3yr/36k mile warranties.

Stupid. It sounds like the injection pump on the 6.5 turbo diesels GM cranked out in the 90s. Now I wish my old contacts in the service department at a local dealership. They retired...

Or try your luck at a local junkyard and cut one off, I recommend a window cutter for sure. I did mine a little over a year ago.

The lighter colored roofs take more exposure to develop the issue. Black is obviously the worst, but the white roof on a 30th car will take quite a bit more to bubble. Regardless, all 1999+ cars will develop this issue in the right conditions. Anything built after April of 1998 is suspect.

Some folks were able to get this covered under the 6 year rust-through/corrosion warranty. I think I was one of the last people to get that coverage back in 2008 on my '02 Z28. Beyond 2008, I don't think anyone was able to get this covered under warranty.

I had a 98 it didn't do that. It was black and a Texas car. His having the white top is interesting that it wasn't across the board.

I may call a few local dealers for craps and giggles and see what they say.
