Bubbling Sail Panel Issue for Dummies

Okay, forgive me for not wanting to search through 60 pages of material but what is the part number for the new sail panel for a T-Top car? 2002 WS6 if that matters. Mines not really doing it yet, but it's a low mile, garage kept car. I'd like to get one and store it away just for the future likelyhood that I'll need one. Price that I've read is about $441 plus $91 shipping through GMPartsDirect? Then about another $500 in labor?

Sail panel # 10254708 Did the price go WAY up on this or what? GMPartsDirect has it listed at $448... Also, can someone verify the part #. They have it listed as a "Lift Off Roof Window" Sounds like a T-Top or something.

So I'd have to assume that the number did change. Wonder if these can be reused from the old roof? I don't know how they attach, or if they can be removed without destroying.
sooooooooo, I guess since I am the second owner of my '02 WS6, only had it about a year, and am seeing this problem develop, and was unaware of this bulletin and it's older than 6 years, although it doesn't have 100K miles yet, i get the F U treatment from gm and pontiac and have to live with it until i can have it done myself?? 
IF GM had any obligation at all, it would have been to the original owner. Since you are the second owner, and not until the car is seven years old at that, it would be unreasonable for you to expect anything from them.

My 65,000 mile garage queen just started this crap. Big bubbles in the middle and then 2 distinct lines going from side to side accross the top. Its going to be pretty damn hard to justify paying $1000+ to fix GMs mistake. I just hope it doesn't get any worse than what it is....
i think many of us are stuck with bubbles in our sail panels. Its been bugging me for a long time. Thank god my bubbles are small and you can only notice them when your starring at the paint. if only GM would validate this recall now regardless of years and or miles. Yet again that will be a huge loss for GM to pay all these vehicles to get fix but like some members on here said its GM's fault.

In any case, its way beyond the point where any reasonable person could expect them to do anything about it now. I have the problem on my 98 SS. If I took it back to the Chevy dealer I would expect to get laughed at. Nobody could possibly think, at this point, they would offer to fix it. Thats why these things are kept quiet, so they have to fix as few as possible and then can claim its too late for them to be responsible. Now, it IS too late for them to be responsible.

DON'T try to repair it!!! I had a bidy shop re-do it and its 100 TIMES WORSE!!!! It's terrible PLUS they wont do anything for me know as far as reimbursementor even a discount on a new sail panel...
Buy a new sail panel from GMPartsDirect, or Ebay. Or find one off of a older body style F-Body in a junk yard. Take it to your body shop and have them remove the old one and replace it with the new one. It's going to be about $1000 job.

Just wanted to again mention to people that want to go the used route that panels from F-bodies built 5/98 or later are subject to the condition. I have not been able to verify any 4/98 cars yet, but the 3/98 and earlier F-bodies seem fine.
My friend and I went to the junkyard cut 2 roofs off LT cars with piano wire, had them painted and installed our selves. You have to buy the 2 little triangles as they are not reusable. His car came out great and getting ready to do mine. Will have under $300 in it.
I have had my car for 9yrs and it has 63k on it. I just started noticing about 3 little bumps this summer on the drivers side. I never noticed this before so it must have just started happening.
This really does suck, guess I'm up ***** creek and will probably have to cough up 1k to fix it huh. that sucks.

be just left on if they look ok.
They are double side taped on and have to be taken off when you cut the old roof off. Read the bulletin it says replace them. They are cheap anyways. Mine look like crap too. All hazed up
