The ones on the Aston pic there are flush mounted from the top. Normally they would not be, unless you did a whole lot of extra work.

You'd go to all the effort that you're talking about in this thread and not bother to flush mount them if that's what you thought looked best? It wouldn’t be that hard to do anyway, make a cutout exactly like the outside parameter of the latch, then attach another piece underneath it with the cutout for the latch and there you go… flush mounted.

Actually, thinking about this this afternoon, being a computer guy for a living, I realized that the server racks that we use use exactly the same style latching mechanism (with a locking key) but they're about half the size, maybe smaller. They even have the same finish, the only problem is that they're rectangular/boxy.

On the photo you showed, I was just pointing out that it was not a simple install, but something much more elaborate.

I just don't like them. I think I'm going to do my best to keep the stock latch and safety catch.

Simple. Fill in the nose area.

I also want to rework the radiator. I was thinking about just exaggerating the stock location by sliding the bottom forward and leaning the top back. The only problem with this location is that the stock rad is a bit wider than the frame at the driverside hose. I might need to go to the smaller Griffen rad for this location.

If I lay it down real low I can have all the air transfer take place in the nose and almost make it look like the car has no radiator.
