When I did mine I completeyl wet sanded it smooth with *600* grit wet/dry sand paper (wet sand of course) For all the areas that yould not easily be sanded with the paper I used medium coarse scotch brite pads (red) to finish my edges and the CAMARO lettering. and all corners in the taillight buckets.
Mixed the paint shot the tail panel after cleaning it twices with wax and grease remover (ppg DX330) Then I used a tack cloth and wiped down the whole panel to remove any lint from the wax and grease remover towels, Then I blew it of front and back and everywhere with an anti-static gun. I then Sprayed it with PPG Black resourced from their online catalog of paint codes against my RPO code.
I once the basecoat dried I went back and knibbed out any dirt chunks that may have collected in the base coat touched it up and dust coated the part to maintain an even finish and lessen the chances of any "tiger stripes". I then mixed up PPG 2060 flex'd-n-flat clear and sprayed 3 coats. I will take pictures and do a write up when I re do it to shave the CAMARO and install a "vintage" z/28 emblem in the center If you would like.
To properly shave the CAMARO I would use a body filler such as bondo or a quality equivilent. then block sand it smooth.

Why sand a perfectly good part of the car and rattlecan it. i just dont understand the logic here. I mean i rattlecanned my calipers but i mean there not painted in the first place. in my eyes rattlecaning the *** end of my 17000 dollar car just freaks me out. whats the history behind this mod?

I have a question on this!
I've done the wet sanding, primer, and painting. I used satin black, which I think looks good, and I've managed not to get any runs. I do have some roughness to the finish that I'd like to smooth out, though.
Would it be okay if I took some 1500 grit and wet-sanded the finish? Will this hurt the finish?
If it is okay, is there any technique I should use for the hand sanding, or can I just go back and forth?
