Yo won't need anywhere close to a full can for just the 4 markers. If you use a whole can on just the four markers the stuff would be on there waaaaaaaay too heavy.

It only takes ~5 very light coats to get it black. ~3 gets a dark shade.

If I have trouble grafting the new lights to the ABS plastic, I may just buy 4 new ones and use VHT on them.
Not really bud, only took me a few hours. Most of it is just drying time.

I think you mean the actual inside if the marker itself? But no its just the outside, the surface that is exposed at all times simply gets sprayed over.

To do the masking, primering, painting, clearing and curing was about a 4 day process for me.

I'm sorry but did I miss something? lol

I thought you were talking about applying niteshades? Sorry if I jumped in without hearing the full story. But what is it your doing exactly that requires all those steps?

Post 54. I was saying I had painted my side markers and about 2 years later they developed spider cracks. I was asking if the niteshades cracked over time.

Can you spray this stuff light enough to create a "smoked" look or is it just completely black?

Here ya go Noir. Here is a good pic of mine. I followed your write-up & couldn't be happier. Did the entire rear light assembly, 3rd brake light & all side markers.
This is a newer pic than the one I posted on the previous page.

Angry Trouble with 3rd brake light

Anyone had trouble with major spider cracking on their 3rd brake lights?

I pulled my side markers and 3rd brack light to do the Night Shades trick. I wet sanded everything with 600 grit and then 2000 grit. Cleaned with alchohol and then painted per instructions on the can. Side markers turned out great, but the 3rd brake light spider cracjed light crazy!!! I thought maybe I had some chemical or something on the brake light. So, I sanded id back down to the plastic using 250 grit, then wet sanded again with 600 and 2000. Cleaned this time with water, let dry overnight, and painted. SAME THING!!!

I've sent VHT an e-mail asking for input. Anyone out there have an idea of why the side markers would work so well while the brake light would get screwed up? I used the same prep, did them at the same time, in the same shop.

Any help?

Thanks,

so do you paint the tail lights on the car or do you remove them? if you remove the parts how hard are they to remove. Thanks,

Matt
