what i cant figure is how come most of these i see are just left witht the 'as sprayed' finish.

use some buffing compound followed by a polishing to bring it to a smooth gloss surface.

i did my side markers and front turn signals lightly a few months ago, here is terrible cell phone pic. i used 3m products to polish them out when i finished painting

we just vht'd my friends tail lights. came out excellent other than the dull finish. maybe we'll try sanding and clear-coating it.

no man damn.. no sanding, no clear coating...paint and polish out just like any other spray paint (if you want it to be glossy)

i got to looking at the tail lights above and it got me fired up to do my reverse lights.. i did JUST the reverse lights, not the entire tail lights.. click for full size

if your local parts store has an account with Keystone Automotive (not the collision parts), they can get you the VHT Nite Shades...we have it at the O'Reilly Auto Parts I work at nights and weekends...

I dunno why you wouldnt want to sand and polish them?

I wet sanded mine with 2000grit and then polished with my orbital.

The one on the left is without polish, and the one on the right is after polishing.

I did 4-5 coats of niteshades, and 4-5 coats of duplicolor clear.

the specs are dust

so after a year and they start to peel or fade how do you go about repainting them? Just sand the vht off and reapply or how do you guys doing that. Secondly, how did you get that glossy look? those look sweet can't wait to do mine.

yea mine started fading after a year, but it was parked in direct sun light all summer and unfortunately i can't help that.

i'll strip it all off and do it again. i think it looks good, but its a lot of work by hand. takes a about a day after i make sure everything is good and dry between coats.
