If it did not eat into the fiberglass, body filler may be enough. Post up a pic if you can.

If its white then its ither a surface scratch in the clear or my guess its through the gel coat and into the SMC. The best thing I have found is the GM easy heat resin/filler, it wont shrink after it fully cures like body fillers.
Being on the rocker panel though shrinkage may not be a concearn and wont be seen making the body filler the chapest solution as the GM easy heat resin is approx. $85 a tube.

Like I said before, the GM easy heat resin/filler is the only product I have seen that does not die or shrink back, its like gel coat in a tube. I have used the SMC panel adhesive #3 on several projects but after a few months it allways shinks back and shows an out line of the repair no matter how fine a grit you finish the repair with. This was also using PPG NCP250 primer and the Du pont chroma system base/clear and baking it afterwards.

Jeremiah,

If you were going to shave the door handles on an SS, would you use the GM product and what would you use to fill in the majority of the hole.

Thanks
Bryan

I wouldnt fill the recessed erea, I would cut a piece out of a junk door out back and cut/trim/fit it to the door being shaved and finish it with the GM product. I would put a thin patch on the back side afterward to reinforce my repair again using the GM product with reinforcing mesh or cloth. This product is also good for the Carbon fiber parts on the new Z06 Vette since the SMC and carbon fiber both use the same resins.

Sounds good. Is it only available through GM dealers or is it on the Net. Tried a Google search and didn't come up with much.

Thanks

I buy it through the local GM parts dept. its expensive and you will need a heat gun and a temp guage to monitor the temp while it sets.
