ummm...what color is the fiberglass?
i'm sanding down my 2000 z28. how do i know when i've hit the fiberglass? is it necessary to do so? the paint right now looks godawful, and i don't know what's underneath. i'm sanding with 80 grit. i plan on having someone else paint it. can they primer over that, or will it need to be sanded finer? also, what do i do for the bare metal in the interm? can i just spray some sandable primer?

After u get all the old paint removed, you are goin to want to high build primer the hood anyways, so if u go threw its not a big deal, and u want to atleast finish it off with some 150 grit 220 would be nicer

the doors are made of Sheet Molded Compound (SMC) that has fibers embedded in it, but are not fiberglass...
Heres my door, cracked it a few months back and havn't gotten the new door on yet..

you should not be using 80 grit on anything that you're going to repaint unless you plan on doing some major major high filling. 220 is the most i would use, especially on plastic and fiberglass.
