Default Intake painted PICS INSIDE 56K BEWARE!

well i painted my LS6 intake. i used a self etching primer, worked really good. sanded down some of the texture in the material, then washed it good and let it air dry, shot it with the primer and let it sit for 24 hours. then shot it with Krylon Fusion satin white. i put about 10 coats on it. i know its overkill but i kept seeing places that did not look right. i wasent going for the all out show finish or i would have used BC/CC. i think it turned out great for what i wanted it for. LMK what you think.

Looks good man, i've been sanding on mine off and on for over a month (just in spare time). I'm gonna try to get mine to be ULTRA smooth. It'd be nice to be done with it like you are however.

i could have easily put a lot more time into it than i did. i just didnt because it waswnt neccessary for what i wanted. if i wanted show quality, i would have sanded it down like you are doing, primered it, sanded that, primered again, sanded, cleaned, and shot it with 5 coats of BC/CC Mystic Teal, then 5 coats of clear and wet sanded and buffed with a dremel. but i would have easily doubled my investment in the intake itself. hope yours turns out good. post up when you get it done.

Yall can try a primer surfacer by shopline. ill get the numbers tomorrow but three coats of that and then a wetsand with 600grt and your done. It will be smooth enough for black paint.

Just curious as to why you would use a self etching primer on a composite material??

because thats all i had at the time. and i live 40 miles from the nearest paint store or walmart for that matter. i tried it out on a blown (nitrous burp) LS1 intake before i used it on my new LS6.
