Default painting suspension parts

so i was installing my new a arms and it looks great except the spindle is nasty looking so i was gonna put some hi temp paint on it but my question is what kinda of prep work needs to be done for that sand it until i can see metal again of just scuff it up and clean it really well to make sure all the rust is off. and im not sure if there are spots of rust on it or its just road grime from over the years

thanks

I would recommend using POR15 as a primer, just paint it on and let it dry then sand it down a bit and paint over that. I got mine powdercoated

sand down with a wire wheel and grinder than paint with POR 15. Thier regular Gloss black. Stuff is badass.

Scrub it wil some brake clean with a scotchbrite pad, then shoot it in some engine rattle can enamel. It'll look great.
