Chrome Plastic
There is a place near me that claims to be able to crome plastic. I haven't been there to see anything, but has anyone ever had this done and will it last??

My buddy has the factory windscreen on his turbo gsxr 1000 chromed. Been like that for awhile. Costs a lot for a quality piece, but it is pretty amazing when done right.
He had another place do chrome ram air covers on a 954rr previously, and after a short time they turned yellow/goldish.
Make sure it's quality stuff before you drop the dough!

Haven't tried it yet, but this seems like a pretty good alternative to "dipping" and looks a little more advanced than "chrome in a can"

I don't know why it wouldn't work although somehow I doubt it is the same process as chroming metal (nickel, copper, zinc). Somehow I think it is similar to model parts. I have an SLP plastic logo on my car that is chromed plastic and it is still as shiny as the day I put it on 3 years ago.
Also, HOK Krome looks incredible although it is more than just spray chrome and is in fact a precise process. To be honest, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference if correctly done between the HOK and a truly chromed piece.

Well, so much for that then.

Did you see this thread on the SPI forum?

Covers several flavors of chrome paint, and some real experience with them. Interesting reading. Certainly makes me not want to try it. lol.
