i got quoted 2500-3000 to do the swap at a body shop. and that price is if i brought all the parts to do it. im just going to do it myself, using this writeup.

A couple guys over on Z28.com have done the conversion and said it was a breeze. Definitely made em need some new shorts, but it was very easy all in all. If there's any way at all you could consider doing it on your own head over there and do a search on it and if you can't find the info you need talk to either MeatyShells or Jpack. I can't tell you how much a body shop will charge, but I'd bet money that they're gonna rip you out the *** unless you can find a really exceptional deal.

I don't understand paying that much or working that hard to have a leaky roof and a car that is subject to signifigantly more flex.

+1 on that... and not trying to offend anyone but its not worth it to do that... and if you have the money to spend on it just get a different car... and if it has that uch personal value then you dont want to destroy it... my .02

IIRC, the factory t-top cars also have extra reinforcement supports to compensate for part of the car being missing. Is this included in the installation process?

no they dont. the only thing the hardtop cars have going for them as far as rigiditity is the bracing directly above the windows that the t-top itself replaces. this is cut out when you put t-tops in it. however, a t-top car with SFC's is stronger than a hardtop car without. so when you add SFC's to any car, (hardtop or t-top) the argument of wether the t-top cars are weaker is moot.
