and to be honest......99% of the time the people who talk about how much better hardtop cars are and how they would rather have a hardtop are those guys who have T-TOP CARS! They can go out and take their tops off on a beautiful day and enjoy it every once and a while. Believe me on days like that just putting your windows down dont do justice. I want t-tops so bad.

For the record, yes all Fbods were born t top cars. The Verts are a whole different ball game and structure is under the car. The side hardtop roof supports have a GM part number. See picture. Believe me I did a ton of research having an engineering background, before I hacked into my car. Also while in BG for the camaro gtg last year, Scott (Fbodfather) gave me the thumbs up and looked it over really close and also confirmed the born a t top car theory. Also for those complaining of leaks, you need to make adjustments. Keep in mind these are uni body construction. Without subframe connectors they will flex whether a hardtop or any other unibody car. With that said, some direction for adjustments can be followed.

1) If you can close your door with the window up and a dollar bill slipped between the glass and t top slides right out, you need to adjust the window. It should pull out with some force.

2) When I put my t tops on, I need to use slight pressure pushing downward on the top to latch it. This forms a very tight seal and stops wind noise. if yours don't do this and the latch arm moves very easy, you need adjustment. To do so, remove the a pillar covers and rear cover where the mount is. Loosen the 2 bolts on each and you will see shims in there. Adjust the shims by removing them and placing on top of the bolts. This will bring the mounts lower and make the tops tight.

I have a write up I did. I also have pictures of one I just did. I need to mark them up with arrows and tags etc. Just been to lazy. I'll get it all up in a few days. As far as the write up, here is a link. It will make more sense when the pictures are up. The last one I did didn't include the body finishing because the guy was going to do that on his own. I have to update a few things in the write up, but it will give you an idea of what is involved. Here is the text write up.....

It is that piece of the roof that goes from right behind the drivers window, over the top of the roof, and down behind the passenger side window. Instead of the whole roof like our hardtop cars have.......t-top cars have just that "piece" of the roof.

yes i know that. What i am trying to say is on hardtop cars it is all one piece. When you do the t-top conversion you usually just cut along that line and keep that piece you are wondering about on there. But it wont look 100% factory installed unless you buy just that piece that goes over the b-pillars and replace the one you cut. Understand?

Pictures added to the write up. Done on a Firebird. Bodywork was to be completed by the owner. This was a budget conversion for him. Had the car back to him in 1 day.
