Default Removeing TA Bumper Support Trick...

What is it?!? Without removing my front facia,,i raise the lights and can get all 6 10mm bolts out, i can get the 3 panel pins out, but how do you get the support out of the crammed area without 1. scratching or worse to my front facia,,im having to pull it up pretty far just to get the support up a lil bit,,and 2. working around the 4 bolts (2 on each side). Someone gave me some great instructions, but i think it may be a lil easier to do this in a Camaro,,I just dont wanna be breakin something 2 weeks before the TA Nats...

you make it sound so easy!

So, i can safely pull back (towards me standing in front if the car) on the front facia without any problems, and it will bend that far. My brace seemed like it was in there pretty good.....

Me and a friend pulled mine out to paint last year... Getting it back in is where the real fun is. We ended up cracking the paint on the bumper and it started to peel.

I tear these cars down all the time. Which part are you trying to take out? you say support? there is the upper fiberglass support that attaches to both headlights and top of the front cover with 2 bump stops on it, theres the big steel one that has the support foam attached to it? y dont you just take the cover off, its really not that hard. there is the 3 plastic pins on top, 2 nuts and 1 bolt on each side where the fender and bumper meet, and then the bolts under the bottom that attach the black plastic pieces underneath. really not hard or that time consuming at all. Y would u risk stretchin your cover and cracking paint.

never mind. If your talking about the fiberglass piece dont take the bumper off. that should be easy to get out of there.

The fiberglass one is the one i wanna remove, then the metal one that the foam is glued to as well. The fiberglass one has 2 bolts on each side (and 2 more in the middle), the bolts on each side are what seem to make it impossible,,the support wont come up (towards the front) far enough to clear the bolts for me to pull it out of there. And yes, im afraid im going to crack the paint or somehting if i try to stretch the cover to far.

simple solution take off the bumper trust me it is so much easier that way. i took mine off when i started the engine swap about 2 months ago and it will just make everything so much smoother. i say why fight if you dont have too. sounds like a weekend project anyway. murphys law applied you will more than likely hurt your bumper so just take the safe way out. my .02

Dont try to stretch your cover if its been refinished, the factory finish is very forgiving but any aftermarket finish will likely crack reguardless of weather a flex agent was used or not.

Is this the plastic bumper support you are talking about?

Looks like a combonation of bolts, plastic push pins.. I count a total of 7.
