Default Getting a new hood.....poor previous paintjob

As some of you might know I’ve been having issues with the flame job the original painter did just 3.5 yrs ago. Along with the pinstriping pulling away from the flames this past month an area on the top middle of the hood near the windshield has gotten this splotchiness to it. It has grown 3 times the size now and is looking absolutely horrible. I will post pics of this area later because right now the car is in the shop getting the rear bumper painted. When I dropped the car off yesterday morning I asked the painter what was causing this. I told him that it wasn’t there when he had the car in shop in February but I noticed it around June or so. He even said he didn’t recall seeing it. Anyway he said he’s seen it on certain GM vehicles with certain colors but this of course is from the original crappy painter and its stuff bleeding through that he put on the base that he didn’t prep properly. He said it’s only going to get worse. Right now it’s about 12” x 8 or so and I just cant take it looking like this so I decided to sell some stuff so I can get a new hood.

I’m going with the WS9 hood since I can go pick it up in PA and am thinking of just installing it while we’re up there and just putting the current hood in the back of the car. My only problem with that is I’ll have to ride around awhile with this hood not painted till I save up the $1000 it’s going to cost to get it done. I know you have to install the hood and have it on for a short time anyway before it’s painted but I wasn’t sure how long of a time period that is. Also I just am afraid it’s going to look so funky with a black hood, orange front and flames on the side 

Any opinions?

A photoshop sample would be better. Seems like you could get a really good idea.

You dont have to drive around with the hood if the painter has a bake booth tell him to bake it and then whipe it with wax and grease remover. That works for me.

I wont have the money to get the hood painted w/flames for awhile...hence why I would be driving with it unpainted. It's going to cost $1000 for the flame job

They are going to match your previous paint on the sides of your car? So they just have to follow the previous lines when its on the car?

Its seems kind of expensive to me, but i guess because they have to fit it on the car then match the lines then take it off and paint it. Hope it turns out ok.

Travis....I just saw that you replied here. For some reason I never got an email saying I'd gotten any more replies. Anyway I was on my way to Philly to get a tranny for the Honda and that was the only car I could use to pick it up with. Was I headed south or north? We're you in the SS?
