Default Home-Made Ram Air Hood...

I'm not a big fan of the '93-'97 ram air hoods, so I'm thinking about making my own. I want something like a predator hood. I just recently graduated from high school and soon to start college, so I'm playing with a small budget. I'm thinking about buying an aftermarket ram air hood for a '98-'02 T/A and molding the ram air part onto the hood of my '96 T/A. My uncle does body work and has his own shop, he can get me an aftermarket ram air hood for a '00 T/A for less then $260 and he said he will mold the ram air part onto my stock hood for next to nothing. Beats spending around $700 for a predator hood. What do ya'll think I should do? I even had thoughts about putting a cowl induction on my stock hood.

Might as well try it if you have the proper resources. You'll never actually know till you do. And if it works, then you'll have a nice 1 off piece. If it doesn't work out, at least you tried.

VFN can put custom cowles on hoods. if you wanted to you could get a flat lt1 hood with the sunnoco hump.

Why not just buy the 98 style ram air hood for a 93-97 car? I have one I want to sell, but I don't exactly know how much it would cost to ship fed ex freight.

That looks good! I would have done the stinger part in black, just because I'm wanting to go with a black and white theme with my T/A. Not tryin' to dog on your hood, it looks nice red.

I think this would be your best bet:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ram-A...spagenameZWDVW

The demensions sound about right and it's not that tall which will complement your 93-97 Firebird/Trans Am. I think Ram Air hoods on LT1's look ridiculus because the car itself is sleak and adding the two buldges looks wierd. Again, this looks promising. Good Luck!

That does look pretty nice. I just don't like the vents in the back. I think I just might end up looking into that. It's cheaper then buying a '98+ ram air hood then having to destroy it just for the ram air part.

I think they sell one without those vents too.

Well I'm gonna see how much EdwardL is going to sale his hood for, then see how much shipping would be. If not, I'll just buy a damn '98 style ram air hood and mold the ram air onto my hood. I just started working at a body shop with my friend and his Dad so I'll be able to work on it while I'm there and I'll get paid for working on my own hood lol. Just gonna wait and see what happens...
