Default Project Faded (Color Change)

I have an 02 Camaro SS that I have owned now for about 7 months. To make a long story short, I picked up this red one at a great deal and couldn't pass it up. However, I have always wanted a black SS and since it needed new bumpers and a lot of small dents and dings fixed, I decided to do it right... Needless to say, I decided to paint my Camaro ONYX black and it went into the shop two weeks ago for the color change. The guy is giving me an extremely good deal on the job and I couldn't be any more satisfied with how it is coming out so far. I will continue to upload pics and details along the way...Enjoy!

Prepping:

After paint (very dusty, without wetsand and buff):

Good luck to you hope everything comes out great. I am looking to do a color change also. Every Trans Am i have ever owned has been Red (3). I always seemed to get a great deal on a Red one. I am going with a different color this time, and for the life of me I can't pick a color. Keep us updated.

Thanks for the input guys. I am truly obsessed with detailing my car and if anyone should have black its definately me. Also, the car is not my dd and will spend the majority of its life in the garage which really helps to maintain its condition.

WS6 00, I paid $2000 cash out the door for the color change including the paint, materials, labor, wetsand, buff, ect. they fixed a lot of little dents, and two major one's (one is visible within the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pic's of the prepping stage). They painted everything except for the undercarriage and the engine bay including the door jams, t-top area, hatch area... . I will be painting the undercarriage myself as well as the engine bay when I drop in the 408...

Every other place here in nor. cal wanted at least 4000 to do the same job. The guy who owns the paint shop is a very close friend of a friend and guarantee's his work and warranty's it as well...

Usually how much does painting the undercarriage and engine bay add to a paint job?

you'd have to have them pull the motor to do the engine bay...i have no idea how much they would charge. to me, it wasnt a big deal to do it myself since i need to pull the ls1 anyway... im spraying the undercarriage with por15 when i throw in my 9"

That is a good idea. It's pretty much the ultimate rust preventative.
