^ No.... I want something easy to match should I ever have to repaint anything. I have a hell of a time with this 3-stage yellow allready on the car. Millenium Yellow has a tinted clear and is near impossible to properly match.

Dude you must have conhones the size of watermelons! Doing that to a Z06 would scare the s*it out of me. Good luck and I hope it comes together the way you want it.

if i were going to all that trouble i would want a custom color. Yellows ok but there are tons out there and it isnt a big difference compared to what youre doing. Ive always wanted ferrari TITANIUM paint or BMW steel gray. Just what i would do im sure youve thought it through and through. Looks good so far i think ill do this to my 96 WS6 but ill leave my zo6 alone cause i love hardtops and hate t-tops. targa or nothing imo.

UPDATE: Forgot my camera last night so car pics will come tonight, got a good bit done and started shaving the quarters and rear facia.

After having precision powdercoating in Va Beach ruin my wheel centers, and Vanwin's in Chesapeake not being able to fix them, I ended up getting new centers, it sucks, but the only way I was going to get any money out of Precision was via court and I didn't want to deal w/ the stress and time.

This go around I decided to try the paint route. If paint is good enough for Rich's $6000 HREs then it should work for me.

I'm having Rick and Joey at Stock or Modified lay the paint on the car so I decided to take my wheel centers to them. From the pics Rick sent me they look great.

Fresh forged aluminum centers with a brushed finish for paint

Etch primed

Sealed

Base coat

Cleared

Yeah... they used to look great on the car before the powdercoating split in February... it was the 2nd set of centers I'd had in them because the powdercoating on the original ones from CCW split as well. Here's how they look when done right.

Craptacular update... I put new Panasonic batteries in the camera that I got from the Dollar Store... the camera took two pics than malfunctioned. It would turn on and off but not take pics. Got home, but the old mostly dead Duracels in and it works fine now. I'll have better pics of everything tomorrow... sorry.

Here's a shitty pic of most all the body panels off, only the nose is left to take off.

Doors are off

Thanks again to Mark and Gary for the help... Gary worked on filling the panels and mark and I sanded the fenders and doors some more.

Tomights Update: Thanks again to Mark, Gary and Mike for the help

Loosing body panels

Filled in the side lights and antenna hole (which is on the right quarter). Gary used a short hair filler to make a base then SMC panel filler to finish it off.

Gary hitting the areas with high build primer

Continued working on the doors... sanding removing rubber etc.

Gary worked some majic and fixed the section that had been cut out ner the left hood hinge. I guess the previous owner had to replace the backing plate where you thread the bolts in the mount the hood.

Mike hit the areas that used to be holes for the a hood liner (DRM hood uses and oem frame) with glazing buddy to finish them off.

Mark sanded the side mirrors, gas door, and one of the handles.

I hope you did not intend to race that. Most tracks would not let that on their tracks for safety reasons. Just like Fbodies with T-tops or Vert tops there are special regulations.

What are you talking about? Read the first post... I have a Panoz raod race car for HPDE and TT fun and I won't have any issues for the few times I want to run the vette at the drags.

My painter is going to spray two test panels.... one screamin yellow from the newer mustangs and one the yellow from the Saturn SL2 sport coupes. They're both brighter than millenium yellow but not as pale as the new velocity yellow.

Well Gary worked some more of his magic on my hood today. I had to go to an x-mas party/brunch w/ my GF and I normally take Sundays off from the car to spend time with her. Gary posted these two pics in my thread on the Corvetteforum. The amount of time/effort in the both of them is awesome. I truly appreciate the work and help he has given me on the car

Hood completely block sanded

First coat of primer, looks a little bit better huh

Mike (illmac77) brought his newborn son Jakob out to the shop to check out the action. Gary's sign sums up his "garage" nicely.
