Default TTops to Hardtop Conversion

I absolutely hate ttops with a passion. I see everyone doing a hardtop to ttop but can you go the other way and do a hardtop conversion? I would like to do that to the 97 Z28 if i keep it. Anyone on here done this? I was told its just a couple of braces under that fiberglass top that they would have to add for the hardtop but i dont know. Anyone?

You'ld need the metal side supports welded in, the interior trim, headliner, weatherstriping, windshield trim, and a roof skin. It wouldn't be that hard for a competent shop to do.

i say find someone who wants to convert to t-top and swap parts. then all youd need is someone to weld in the braces and rest should be doable by you, as long as you have some basic skills.

How bout a targa top?? Like the vettes have.

Just a thought. I think they look amazing on F-bodies..

It would require a lot of custom work, but I guess making it a hard top would also.

I could go with a targa but that would be completely custom. If i did anyting its gonna be a hardtop conversion. So much cleaner from the side and everything.

i have seen one or two guys that have done fiberglass TTOPs so when they are on it looks just like a hardtop and no light goes thru, might be something to look into, also there is one guy that did a targa top that i know of.

What would be way bitchin is something similar to what transambandit said....a single top that sits in like the t-tops and uses the latches but sits over the T and looks like a hard top???
