If you look here you will see a chopped top Merc S class and 2 chopped 300C 's. A roadster and a hard top.

^^The 2 door charger on that site looks extra pimp. Except for the Dukes of Inglewood theme of course

The lid on it looks lowered as well. The new Camaro already looks chopped.

Ok, this one is rather unique. I extended the actual narrow metal roof forward and backward making the top of it longer. Now the rear window glass would not need to be moved forward.

I also raised the the front fender lips and lowered the front of the car for a more raked look. Tell me what you think.

I think if I want to keep the stockish looking rear window I would need to make the roof fixed so that the hatch can use the regular hinges. I could probably do a Targa or T-top section if I wanted to.

To make the roof removable I don't see how I could keep the hinged hatch. It would need to be fixed to the top. That means I would need to make the back glass shorter so I can have a trunk like opening.

So do you guys prefer the longer rear window or a shorter one?

It does to me also, but that's not a bad thing. People always said it looked like the batmobile, now it just looks more like it.

This last version I definately like the best. As all this speculation is going on about how to do the glass I would say to go stop by a glass shop or custom shop and just tell them your plan and have them go over possibilities of moddin' the rear glass with them. This is an awesome idea, I'd had the whimsical idea that my 3rd gen would look cool but the LS1 swap is the real goal. Glad to see someone is seriously considering this.

I like that last one Jason. The longer rear window looks better than those shorter ones IMO too. I don't have a photo editing program that would let me chop like I wanted to, so I just tried this.

I'm not too worried about the rear glass. Even though a verticle rear window would be easier to make, I think the stock looking sloped window just seems better. For one thing, it fills in that empty area on the rear deck. Just a chopped top should be enough excitement. I may be able to get the targa section to fit behind the front seats.

As for the rear glass, a vette glass may come closer to the size I need. Next time I see one I'll measure it. Another trick would be to mold the roof to line up with the cut down stock rear glass. Since it's a black car and the rear glass will be darkened it should blend together really nice.

Here's a quick chop like you suggested.

It looks pretty good from the side, but only the side. I know it would reduce the work involved, but I want it to actually be lower. When you roll up on it from behind I want you to say damn! Look at that!

But that's the thing...it still will...maybe not a "OMG that's crazy!" response, but a definate "That looks different somehow." Since that sail panel angles up and after that chop it'll angle down, it'll still be noticable...And you might not break a passanger's neck when you go over a speed bump! :p But really, it's just a 'able to do without spending $200G' method. Less Custom Glasswork that'll cost an arm, leg and ********. haha Really to see ANYTHING done would be freakin sweet! Swat

I'll have a shop do the paint, but I'll do everything else. You want to avoid custom glass at all costs, that's why I'm planning things out very carefully. If I have to have Some glass custom made, forget the whole project. It won't be worth it.
