Depends on the shop. Go find a good quality shop and have them give you a price quote. Prices vary too much from region to region.

Depends on what kind of shop and what level of quality they do. Maaco would do an average at best job and probably charge you $3,000 and would just paint all the panels as they are on the car.

A proffessional shop would take off every panel and make sure everything is 100% show quality perfect, and would probably charge in the $10,000-$12,000 range.

Then there are always shops that will be in between with their in between level of paint job.

The big thing that costs so much is really the labor, much more than the paint and supplies. If you can take off panels and have them brought into the shop vs having to pay them to do it, it will save you some $. Furthermore, if you can have everything prepped correctly for them it will also save you a bundle.

$10K??!!? You've gotta be kidding me

That is like so restrictive it isn't even worth paying for unless you are restoring a classic or whatever. Here I was hoping to get my body work done on my car and then get it painted, at that cost, yeah right!

$3k maaco job....Around here, their "best" paintjob costs right under a grand. Depending on how much bodywork needs to be done, I'd expect to pay from 3-5k.

Like I said, it depends on who does it, and how much time their going to have in it, and also the level of quality they can do.

I have seen some paint jobs that are immaculate go for $15,000+ I have never seen a paint job for under $1500 that looked good (or at least what I would call "good").

So far my 2ooo TA full repaint same color is up over 4K. ( w/o glass work )

Good thing for insurance tho - they could not buff out the glass, and both the front and rear glass is coming out and ( most likely ) Chinese compressed sand is going in.

5k would probably get you a pretty good paint job just to stay red. Where are you from?

Why not just rob a bank and pay for it with the stolen cash? You are pretty much telling him to do the same thing.

if you are planning on changing the color and keeping the money down a bit expect to pay 4000-6000 depending on how much prep work is needed.

I just painted my project Camaro and 4-6k is a about the going rate for a nice paint job. You also have to remember the cost of the paint is not cheap. Plan on spending $1200 for quality paint and prep supplies.

Again, its not the paint and supplies that are going to cost a lot on the paint job. The vast majority of the cost will come from the labor with all the prep work that needs to be done, as well as removing and replacing body panels, on top of the actual painting, and clear coating.

I'd say only 10% or less of the cost will be in the actual paint and supplies.

If you want to save on the paint job, do the prep work yourself (if you feel confident in your prepping abilities). Even removing panels for them to paint, and then installing them again when they're done will help out.
