Default minor custom body work..

Alright, Well.. After spending my whole saturday putting on my front bumper, headlight header pannel, & drivers side front fender and splash shield, I think I might have found something that may help improve the looks of my 94 Camaro. Theres a little indent in the front bumper where you put the Camaro emblem in.. I wasnt ever really a big fan of it, but I never really hated it.

Well, I thought, while I have it at the body shop to be painted, Why not have it filled in to make it look smoother? I havent ever seen one like it before, So i wasnt sure if I would like it or not.

So heres what I'm talking about.
(sorry for the picture quality, Its from my cell phone)

Heres some other pics of the body work

And heres a picture of the car when it was involved in the accident

Do you think it would be worth it and how do you think it would look?

ex-SS-ve in the Texas forum has a red LT1 with an LS1 transplanted in it and he also 'shaved' the Camaro emblem off of the front of his car. Looks damn good. Any thing done to save another Camaro is always worth the effort. Keep up the good work!

Thanks.

His car looked pretty nice.

I'm wondering how I would do it though, Or how a body shop would do it. I dont know if I should attempt to try it though because I have very little experience with body filler.

ouch.

Why not just a new emblem in it?

Is your new fender and bumper OEM or aftermarket? Where'd you get them?

GM no longer makes fenders and bumpers for the 93-97 Camaros, So I had to get the aftermarket. Theyre the best of the best for aftermarket body parts though. Theyre what collision shops use and are certified (forgot by what company though).

They fit very well.

I still have them emblem off my other bumper, But I think it looks cleaner/smoother with the emblem off.

yep as long as you prep the surface right
clean with soap and dry
clean with alcohol
sand with 40 grit
clean with soap and dry
clean with alcohol
spray with fusor adhesion promoter
apply fusor
allow to cure
then 40 grit
80 grit
clean with soap and dry
clean with acohol
spray with fusor adhesion promoter
and then there is a fusor thats pink u use to smooth it up i can recall the price
let it cure for a day i know it says a few hours but let cure for a whole day
sand with 180
then it is ready to prime with a plexible primer surfacer

on where the fenders mount to the the bumper i would sand a v with 40 grit and get a pretty good size groove in it so it has more contact area to grip

the plastic will break before the fusor will that stuff is strong u will find that out when u start sanding it

i dont think the pink fusor stuff is neccesary u can just 180 the fusor but it will turn out better and reduce the chance of sand scratch swelling if u do use it so i say use the pink stuff

Damn..Those are a lot of steps! Much harder than I originally thought. I've never had to use body filler before, or anything like that. So, Is it something that I should attempt to do or leave it to the body shop to do?

I originally wanted factory body pannels from GM, But I was told by one of the people over the phone who worked in the parts department of a local chevy dealership that they no longer made them and didnt stock them. I could be wrong though, but thats what I was told.
