would a heat gun work for this kind of dent? i've had it since i got the car, but finally got some time to work on it and fix all the little **** that's been needing attention. it's just on the plastic part of the front bumper, not the actual metal part.

well i just got back from the shop. i figured out it was that bracket, it barely had an inch or two gap, compared to the other one which was double that. i started to pull away, but didn't really know too much of what parts went where, so i stopped. i'm not good with that stuff, so i'm gonna read up some more before i try and pull it off. any tips on (somewhat easily) getting to that bracket? i've got all weekend to fix it.

the bumper and fender are polyurathene plastic, iam going to try to help ya here i havent done a camaro ina while, remove the fender liner, should be 2-4 10mm bolts in the fender to bumper, the bracket should be held in the clips, and or plastic or metal rivets
polyurathene has a memory, so when heat is applied the shape returns, heating both sides of the plastic, its a great plastic to work with when you have experience in plastic repair
try that see what happens

i started to try and remove the bumper, but wasn't sure what i was doing. i removed the 4 little plastic rivets, and the top part of the bumper popped off the lip, but couldn't figure out how to separate it from the fender. i got the fender loose by taking the 4 nuts off, the one that the AIR hose runs next to, but wasn't sure from there.
do you happen to have a picture of what's keeping the two pieces connected? if i can just get to the bracket that's attached to the fender, right next to the DRL, and take it out and rebend it, then do the poly part with the heat.

I haven't removed a Camaro bumper recently but from memory just remove the plastic push pins at the top of the bumper. Remove all the 10 mm bolts/screws underneath the bumper that run around the perimeter of it. Once you have the plastics underneath off you can see there are two nuts at the bottom of the brackets where the fender meets the bumper.....remove those and their should be one bolt running thru that same bracket parrallel to the ground. The one bolt on the bracket is easiest to remove by pulling your wheels off and pulling the fender liners back a bit so you can get to it easier.

The big bracket is about 30 dollars
The small one is about 7 dollars.
You probably need both. I can post part #'s or PM you them. Or the dealer can look them up.
It's worth the 50 ish dollars after tax to just get new brackets.
Believe me. It is hard to bend those stamped brackets with those rolled up edges. Even if you do it will look like crap afterwards.

you could go ahead and post them on here if you don't mind please.
also, would you happen to have a small image of what the little bracket looks like? i don't know what you're talking about, but i'm sure it needs to get swapped. pictures of both would be nice, just to make sure i'm not thinking of the wrong one.

i tried that. two things happened:
the rolled edges of the bracket didn't like to be clamped down and i didn't want to **** them up
so i tried putting the part where it bends like a 90 degree angle, and tried pressing the bend back out, and it bent, but at the same time i need to twist the other half the opposite way, if that makes sense.

These are what they look like. Maybe only one of yours is bend maybe both of yours is bend. I just replaced both of them to be easy.

For the drivers side the smaller plate is 10409247
For the drivers side the larger plate is 10277024
The larger brackets mount to the fenders. the smaller brackets sandwitch the front bumper cover to the fender

is it the other way around? larger plate being 10409247 and small one being the other? just curious cuz that's one number off from the right side big plate. either way, thanks a lot for that information. i'm gonna swing by the chevy dealer tomorrow and see how fast they can get me the parts in.
