Default your estimate on paint job

hi guys, what would be a decent price for a paint job on a 2001 b4c camaro? i't has a couple very small dents on the quarter.bubbles on the roof,no t tops lots of small chips on the hood and front bumper.it's navy blue.no rust.wasen't going to do the door jams.i thought maybe 3000.00,but my buddy says 4000.00 or more.thinking about getting it done now since paint jobs are climbing .your input is greatly appreciated. man i remember years ago a 1000.00 paint job was car show material, and yeah it was along time ago!

I was going to say, you can get a decent paint job in ga for 1000-1500

But most good ones, should run 2000-3000

id say about 3000-4000 for doing what you want to do including the paint and body work. i know at the shop i was at for a camaro it was about 8000 to do the entire car.

To repaint my Chevelle in 1987 it was $4,000 . . . To redo my Camaro in 2002 it was $8,000 . . .

This is in IL, and included complete jamb work, and both cars were 100% color changes.

I would say between about 4000 or 5000 for a good job. Thats with using dupont or ppg, fixing dents and chips and sanding and buffing afterwards. Thats what I would charge if I was doing it but I do this myself at home. Body shops usually charge around $45-$50 an hour on their work and a lot of shops would rather not touch an all over job because they can turn over $$$ quicker on insurance wrecks. At least thats how it was where I used to work at the dodge dealership. Just check around though. I hope you find someone that doesn't rip you off.

Maaco seems to be hit or miss. I've dealt with the same store for 3 vehicles- my sister's ex had his Grand Am painted there, I had my truck painted there, and a buddy got his Focus done there. All 3 came out beautiful and are still looking good (granted I haven't seen the Grand Am in over a year). Then I know a guy at school who had his done at another Maaco and within 6 months the clear coat was terrible.

It all depends on where you go; some guys feel they are better so they charge and arm & a leg, while others who may be just as good could charge half that. I would ask around where you live and see who is overall satisfied with the work they got. A decent estimate that is reasonable would be $2000-$3000 depending on the prep involved with body flaws.
