How long to wait to mount tires after painting rims?
Hey guys, i just took all day today sanding down some wheels. I used Acetone and got them completely dry, smooth and sanded. Tomorrow i will spray them with primer, black paint and then clear coat. My question is, once i have finished with my paintwork and they are dry to the touch, how long should i wait to mount the tires? Would it be alright to mount them a few hours after they are dry or would they get scratched up by the tire mounting machine. I hope i don't have to wait days but if that is best, then that's what i'll do. Any input would be appreciated.

I would wait bare minimum as long as it says on the can (if your putting the krylon touch on them) but in reality i would go a few days, and be prepared to possibly do some touchup.

I would give it a couple of days at bare minimum. When you do go to get the tires mounted and balanced, make sure to ask for the stick on weights that stick inside the rim. That way they won't chip any of the paint on the edge of the rim.

Also, be aware: Spray painted wheels are almost definitely going to chip/scratch by any mounting machine, so don't be surprised, and don't blame them! The full-proof method is either a machined/polished lip or powdercoating.
