My DD was involved in a real minor hit and run today. It appears that someone in my apartment complex either backed into it or clipped it while pulling out of their spot. I'm not real worried about it, but I would like to punish the culprit that feels it necessary to do nothing about the issue.
My question is, was I hit by a white car? Or is this what damage usually looks like after being hit. I.E. is the white damaged clear coat or the base paint or something???

I'm trying not to jump to conclusions, I just want to know if this is what an impact usually looks like or if that is that damage caused by a white car.
I parked in the end spot of a row perpendicular to another. There's been this white dodge duelly that has been parking in that row perpendicular to where I parked and it is extremely possible that he backed out and knicked me. His truck is nowhere to be found

Hard to tell but it looks like it may just be the scuffed clear coat. Is the white on the wheel well lip part of the damage or from something else? I saw the title to the thread and was like "OH NO!!! not the Camaro" phew! Still sucks though.
You got hit by a white car dude. For sure. If it was a red car, you would have some red. Same for blue. There is just too much white there to count it as primer or anything else. I would check the car in question for some green.....

I found one suspect today and would like some second opinions. Cops won't do anything because it was on private property.

This white cobalt has some damage on the front corner of their car that apparently has been covered up with white paint.

Obviously everything doesn't lineup from where the two cars are parked right now. Im not sure if the slope of the parking lot could have affected it that much.
Whoever hit me, hit me like this shitty diagram:

I have seen this white cobalt parked there before. However, I am not completely certain if this car caused the damage. What do you guys think?

Like I said, this is why I have a DD and I really am not concerned. I just don't understand how people can damage someone elses property and not act upon it. This person needs to pay for the damages they caused.
I dont think its the cobalt either, from your measurements it looks like the cobalt is too short and would possibly have a broken headlight or at least have scuffed it up.
nice apts btw
oh and if the white dodge comes back look closely for mismatched paint on either fender, as he/she might have taken it to a body shop already to try to cover it up.

My deductable is $500 and I'm not gonna file it to have this fixed. If it was my car it would be a different story.
it seems like it wouldnt be the cobalt because for someone to hit you head on it would be a little more noticeable, do you think that by any change someone could have done it on accident, i mean a car could have just tapped you and not even known?

Doubtful. The way it clipped the inner fender makes me think the person would have been jolted a bit. At least to notice that something happened.
I investigate crashes and hit and runs almost daily. Im in FL, we do investigate crashes in parking lots, especially hit and runs. You need to look at the heights of the vehicles. Where your truck is parked with a large area to move around in, its unlikely to me it happend there unless someone was really drunk, or in a big vehicle like the dodge you spoke of. The damage on the cobalt doesnt match, it wouldnt have deep, seperate gauges in the paint and that paint would have been left behind at the scene. Not to mention even though its close, the point of impact still seems to high for that part of the cobalt to hit it, especially with all the paint in the upper wheel well. When did you first notice it? Are you sure it happened there?
