Lowest Trans Am in the World - Radical Thinkers Only!!
V drives are super expensive at $4k. Did you see the latest thought? Using the T56 and mounting a transfer case up front.
If you do this you are going to put the differencial right behind the balancer right? Where about will this put the back of the transfer case? You will probably need to raise it up to keep your ground clearance, especially with the clocking of the transfer case.
Just got another idea. If you move the rear wheels back, what is the distance between the back of the front seats and the rear wheels? could you possibly fit the engine and trans combo in there directly coupled directly to an independant rearend? Or flip the rear end over and do the same with the transmission over the rearend and the transfer case behind it?

I'm doing it the only way I know how. Due to the complexity of the body shape, the only parts you can slice off is the top and the bottom. That's what I'm doing.
I'm not doing much body work right now, so how would it save me time?

then in the back cut it out and c-notch it just like a truck. then you could utilize a fuel cell. and still keep the factory look.
Plus the air supension of course.I'm just looking for a donor car so I can cut it all up. I think the only actual TA parts I'll be using are the doors, tail lights, rear bumper cover, seats and dash with A/C, some of the firewall and most of the door jambs. Maybe the rear fenders, I haven't decided yet. Of course the engine and maybe the trans. So it should be a cool project and keep me busy for a long time.
Now if the weight follwed suit and you had a trans am that was 7/8 the weight, that would be fantastic considering a stock trans am is roughly 3450lbs, that would make the smaller version roughly 3000lbs, and then you could lighten it even more. Hmmm, sounds like corvette proportions.

It's called Vancake, BTW, and was built in 5 days.
Since so many folks here, and my family as well, sometimes call my TA the Batmobile I figured I show this car. It's called the Flatmobile and was designed to take the World Record back for the lowest car. It is 19" tall and has a real jet engine for power.

Here it is painted silver:

Another low car I liked:

This is the Blowfish. It ran 271mph!

I still think my design is going to look the best. You have to start with a car that has good lines, then just go a little further with it.
